Bentley Gallery’s commitment to contemporary abstraction has been unparalleled for over four decades. As a full service, professional gallery, we regularly assist both new and established collectors, as well as design professionals, architects, developers, and businesses, with everything from curated lookbooks, digital mock-ups, and in-home viewings, to framing, delivery, and final installation. Through our consultation services, we learn the specific goals of each project and the details of each clients’ space, aesthetic preferences, budget, and timeline. We have worked in homes and offices both small and large, from the historic to the ultra contemporary, in a wide range of styles with an ability to accommodate nearly any budget. The gallery has strategically invested in maintaining a large inventory of carefully selected works by a roster of popular local and internationally-recognized artists. Our long-standing reputation also permits us to facilitate custom commissions and to access inventories of national and international artists and galleries so we can fulfill requests for pieces we may not inventory ourselves.

Professional Contemporary Abstraction and Art - Bentley Gallery

Founder Bentley Calverley, Co-Owner and Director Craig Randich

OUR HISTORY

Bentley Calverley founded her eponymous art gallery, Bentley Gallery, in 1984. She created a small, jewel-like space in Scottsdale, Arizona and assembled a core of important artists, quickly building a curatorial reputation that’s respected in the national art landscape. Exhibitions at Bentley Gallery in Scottsdale ranged from Pat Steir’s lush waterfall paintings to Adolph Gottlieb’s historic Modernist works and continued through October 2012 when the gallery relocated full-time to the Warehouse District in Phoenix.

In 2004, Calverley opened an industrial warehouse gallery in Phoenix’s historic warehouse district. The 28,000 sf space allowed large works of art such as Jennifer Barlett’s house constructions, Jim Dine’s massive Venue de Milos, and Sir Anthony Caro’s sculptures to come alive in a space like no other in the Southwest.

Now, twenty years later, she has traded the large warehouse for an architecturally-significant gallery space centrally-located in Downtown Phoenix. This more intimate space allows the gallery to continue to showcase Calverley’s keen eye for both new and lasting talent with its roster of artists and hand-selected inventory. Paramount to every exhibition at Bentley is the selection of works that are beautiful, that are exquisitely crafted, and that force us to change how we experience the spaces we share with the art.

Throughout its 40 years, Bentley Gallery has remained dedicated to promoting an understanding of contemporary art through research, exhibitions, accessibility, and community engagement. Bentley has served on the boards of the ASU Museum Advisory Council, Scottsdale Arts, and Artlink Phoenix. Gallery Director Craig Randich currently serves on the board of Phoenix Biomedical Center’s Artist + Researcher Program and the Evans Churchill Neighborhood Association. The gallery often facilitates acquisitions and loans between artists and respected institutions such as Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport and Phoenix Art Museum. We are also committed to maintaining regular business hours where we are open to students and the general public.

We believe that everyone should Live with Beauty. Visit us during our regular business hours, call (480) 946-6060 for an appointment, or send us your inquiries at info@bentleygallery.com.
