Fernando Diaz

FERNANDO DIAZ

b. 1952, Orizaba, Mexico

Fernando Diaz has lived, worked, and exhibited his work in Italy, Spain, Austria, Russian, Romania,
Bulgaria, the United States, Brazil, Argentina, and Ecuador, among many others. Since 2009 he
has lived and worked in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. He has had more than 40 solo
exhibitions, both in galleries and museums, and has participated in more than 100 group
exhibitions around the world. Diaz has received numerous distinctions and awards including the
Lorenzo Magnificent Golden Medal at the International Contemporary Art Biennial in Florence,
Italy; Recognition of Merit granted by the Italian Prime Minister; Recognition by the House of
Representatives of the Congress of Mexico; Recognition by the House of Representatives of the
Congress of the United States; and was the recipients of the Venado Tuerto Flag in Santa Fe,
Argentina, among others. His artwork is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of
Contemporary Art in Chicago, IL; the Municipal Gallery of Faget in Romania; The Modern Art
Museum of Cuenca, Ecuador; and the Jose Luis Cuevas Contemporary Art Museum in Mexico
City, Mexico.
