In this new series of work, Danielle Hacche explores the intersection of minimalist architecture, design, and the raw beauty of materials. Drawing inspiration from the Bauhaus movement and Brutalist architecture, these works are informed by the stark geometry and functional beauty of modernist design but softened through a deliberate use of subtle color palettes.
Of the work, Hacche says, “Through this balance of structure and softness, I aim to create works that invite contemplation, offering a space where the viewer can experience the quiet power of simplicity and the nuanced interplay of form and feeling.”
Hacche’s abstract compositions are created on paper and raw canvas, where the materials themselves remain exposed and integral to the piece, as much a part of the work as the colors and forms that inhabit them. The raw texture and simplicity of these materials reflect a sense of honesty and permanence, while the soft, ethereal hues contrast with the often rigid, angular forms found in architectural minimalism. The result is a dialogue between the brutal and the delicate, where each piece is both a meditation on the foundational principles of design and an exploration of color, texture, and space.
Danielle Hacche was born in Poole, Dorset in the Southwest of the United Kingdom. After moving to the United States with her family in 1993, Hacche attended New School for the Arts where she was able to focus on developing her style and craft in high school. After graduation she pursued a foundation degree at Falmouth College of Art and Design back in England, and then went on to The School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she completed her Bachelor of Fine Art with a Presidential Scholarship. Hacche now resides in Phoenix, AZ.
